UKraine response
In partnership with the Herefordshire Council and many other community organisations we are doing our best to respond actively to the very distressing war that we are witnessing in Ukraine, and the displacement of people that it is causing.
Please scroll down and access the section which applies to you.

LOCAL REFUGEE RESPONSE
We would like to welcome all refugees to Herefordshire. We are so sad about what is happening in Ukraine and many of us are finding as many ways as we can to help. We are glad you are living in our community and would like to help you to feel at home for however long you are in our country. Click on the image above (below left) for a list of trusted organisations that might be able to help you in different ways. (Translated below in the 'Refugees' column)
Refugees/
Information for Hosts
We know that hosting refugees in your home is going to be a both a joy and a challenge, as well as being hugely emotionally draining. Please know that we appreciate the sacrifice that you are making and there are many of us who are not able to host who would like to support you.
Click above for details about various support networks available, including our own Hereford based group that meets on Monday evenings at 7:30pm at St Peter's Church.
Volunteering
There are many of us who are looking for ways to respond to the refugee crisis, the more general of which can be found below, but if you are looking to offer some of your time voluntarily to the local Hereford response, please do click above to find out some options.
More generally there are needs for practical assistance, help with form filling and English practice. Many organisations would be keen to have extra support.

ways to get involved
As well as supporting those Ukrainians who come to the UK as refugees, we recognise that there is much that we can be doing to aid the people of Ukraine who are either still in their homes or in other temporary locations around their country and in Europe. Below are a number of ways which we'd suggest that you can get involved.
Donate Items
There are several organisations in Hereford who are gathering items to send out to Ukraine as part of aid packages.
The main place collecting is the Hereford Help for Ukraine warehouse, Unit 37, Three Elms Trading Estate (Behind The Range store), Hereford HR4 9PU.
Practical Support
As refugees arrive in our city and county, refugees and their hosts will need support. If you know anyone locally, why not get in touch.
Contact us using the details below if you'd like to help.
Give Money
There are a number of international charities at the forefront of providing aid on the front lines.
We recommend these...
English Practice
We are finding that refugees arriving in our country have a variety of English language ability. The Ukrainians who can speak English are keen to teach the people who can't, but they need help and people to practice talking with in a safe environment.
Contact us using the details below if you'd like to help, or try your local community organisations, talk community hub or churches to see if you can get involved..
Petition
If you are aware of issues with the local response to the crisis as refugees arrive, talk to your local City Councillor, or if you are frustrated with anything in the national response. Join or start a petition here, or talk to your MP.
Documentation
One of the major needs for refugees on arriving in the country is help filling in paperwork, whether getting bank accounts setup, national insurance numbers, school places, registering with the doctor, etc.
If you have time to help, contact us using the details below and we'll try and point you to somewhere you might be able to volunteer.
