Prayer

Praying 1Here at St Peter’s and St James’ we feel prayer is a very important part of the lives of our churches. We feel it is through prayer that we can come closer to God and his mission for our churches. It is through prayer that we can unite with our Christian sisters and brothers, our community, country and around the world.

Praying Together

At SPSJ we think it is important to pray together as a group as well as individually. This is why we meet monthly in St Peter’s Church House (next to St Peter’s Church) to pray together. The usual pattern for the evening  is: 7.30 tea/coffee; 7.45 study; 8-9 prayer.

Our Parish Prayer meetings are on the third Tuesday of each month – please come anf join us.

The St Peter’s and St James’ Prayer Chain

Prayer ministry has been practised by Christians from the earliest times, and it is our privilege to be part of that on-going work of God.  Members of the prayer chain have no special expertise or power of their own, trusting in the grace of God to bring healing.

The Healing Ministry

Healing is an imortant part of Prayer Ministry. The major difference between Christian prayer for healing and many alternative therapies is that is offered in the name of Jesus. Our churches have been involved in the Healing Ministry for many years. After every Sunday service in all of our churches there is an opportunity to receive prayer for healing or people may wish to attend our weekly Friday Healing Prayers in St Peter’s Church (1.15pm). Specific requests can also be made through our Prayer Chain.
