Great to see how SPSJ is growing into such a vibrant Christian community. My dad(David Priston)was curate under Charles Strong in the 60′s. The Linds and the Strevens will remember him. He is still alive – in Pensions Board accommodation in the South West. God Bless

I’m eager to visit your beautiful St. Peter’s Church, especially as my husband, Prof. Julian Wolfreys, is a [now distant] relation of the Clapham VENNs, his great-grandmother being a VENN. He grew up in Battersea and we both do so love Clapham (just over the Rise, so to speak). Given all this, we very strongly support the sentiments of your talented parishioner, Miss Thomas. What would Henry VENN make of charging £12 to come inside St. Paul’s where he used to speak at the behest of City luminaries? More importantly, what would his son, the firebrand John, have made of that, not to mention locked churches? Perhaps, both are indicative of ‘modern’ times, however saddened the circumstances. At least, all the other extant parish churches around Bread Street are still open and free of charge to nip into of a Friday afternoon — as I did just two days ago, and was blessed by the vicar of St. Vedas playing the grand piano ever so beautifully. Now that is just the situation where the sublimity of God is made manifest!
